I just finished reading [b]Portrait of a Killer - Jack the Ripper - Case Closed[/b] by Patricia Cornwall.

In her book she puts forward hard (though much of it circumstantial at this stage) evidence that the murders in Whitechapel were committed by the prominent artist Walter Richard Sickert. It inspired me to do this picture, hence the title at the bottom "Portrait of the artist at work."

Many great artists have painted portraits of themselves while drawing or painting, but what if the artists was a serial killer? If he painted a picture of himself stalking a victim wouldn't that also be a kind of self portrait?

Yes the picture looks very unfinished I know, thats for three reasons, firstly I wanted it to look like a work in progress, secondly I really can't draw building, cobblestones and brickwork and thirdly I eventually found the subject matter too disturbing to carry on with it. So I present this work "as is" and I don't want any Sickert idolising lynch mobs coming after me thank you very much. If you're a fan of Sickert's work, that's fine but read Patricia Cornwall's book first, THEN come and take it up with me if you feel the need.
